The day empathy steps aside

The day you are so weary 

That your feet hurt

And staying awake seems like a task

When heart is heavy 

When your mind has been numbed with so many stories 

Of patients and their families 

The time when your shoes are hurting you

Please be kind to yourself

And don't step into anyone else's shoes with sore feet

'cause kid you see

On such days empathy also will step aside 

And make way for sympathy
