Closure

I learnt this term through movies and web-series, mostly being used in the context of a romantic relationship, I never pondered over it. I had watched Life of Pi, and honestly I didn’t get the essence of it; but recently I came across the dialogue of the movie where Irfan Khan says, “not taking a moment to say goodbye”, that’s when something within me quivered. It’s not just romantic relations, closure is for all relationships, even relation with the places we have lived in. Also, the way someone leaves says so much. As we grow up things change, we cant expect all phases to be the same; early twenties is all about lots of friends, having fun and taking time to figure out things, but we grow out of it. Friend circle shrinks, yes, you are the fun person you have always been but now you start getting responsibilities, and I don’t think it is a burden always. Like managing your finances gives you a sort of confidence, checking on your parents’ health becomes a part of your schedule, and you learn to invest more in that circle that you have preserved. So yes, for me this transition was a little jerky but I realised maybe acknowledging this is a sort of closure in itself.
